Help me connect - Step by step
Here you'll find a step by step guide on how to connect your device to our recomended tracking platform (Ruhavik). Before we get into this part you have to be sure that you have everything you need connect your device. Here is the list: a Helitar GPS device, a SIM card with a plan that includes at least SMS messages and traffic data (in this case we suggest Tello) and the Ruhavik app installed on your phone. Keep in mind that when you send a command to your device it will respond back confirming your actions.
*We recommend to use the Simple Command List to configure your device. Here the list.
1 - While the device is still OFF, open it and insert the SIM. Now turn the device ON.
*The SIM card is probably protected by a pin code so, if you are not able to connect your device after the entire process, you can install the same SIM into a mobile phone and get rid of the pin code.
2 - Now that you have turned your device ON with a SIM in it, it's now the time to set the APN. The following is a command to send by SMS to the device SIM's number:
APN,ApnName#
*If you are using a Tello SIM, the APN name to use is: wholesale. So, the command to send to your device must be this:
APN,wholesale#
If you are using another SIM provider you should contact them and ask them for the APN name. However, you can easily find this information online.
3 - Open the Ruhavik app and find the "+ Create unit" section in the 3 lines menu on the left of the "Units" section. You will see a search bar "Device Type". In the search bar type the name of our device ( Helitar JM-LL01 ), click on it and write the device ID in the "Enter the settings for the unit" bar (the ID number is the number composed by 15 elements in the back of the device under the name IMEI) and click SAVE. The app then will start the connection phase and you must be ready to set the Server and Port numbers.
4 - In this phase you have to send one command to your device which includes both the Server (IP server Host) and the Port numbers. The app will provide you this numbers so you can easely copy and paste them in the command. A the end your command must be in this form:
Server,0,ServerN,PortN#
Server,0,185.213.2.30,32921# - you can copy and send this message.
*Usually is a matter of few seconds or few minutes (depending on the signal strength) and you must be able to see your vehicle appear in to the app map with a green led telling you that your device is now online.
